The filming of “Empty America” was inspired by a deep desire to see the country in a way it had never been seen before. The goal was to find answers to the questions that lived between the gaps of a deadly virus spreading rapidly throughout the world and the toxic political war spreading rapidly throughout America. In the 8000 miles of traveling from Los Angeles to New York and low within broken soundbites of AM Radio stations, we discovered something deeply unknown in the most uncommon of places. Played out in the iconic aerial images of empty American landscape and the real-to-life shots of the shut-down as it happened, from coast-to-coast. “Empty America” is a time capsule of pandemic from a perspective seen by few who experienced it at home.
