“Rotting Love” is about a lesbian couple living in the 18th century and being persecuted. The need to tell this story stems from the ongoing hate crimes against the lgbtq+ community and my personal experience growing up in a conservative country like Greece. The film begins with the persecutions of the 18th century and ends in the 1980s, when, with the advent of AIDS, violence against the community increased again. I also focus on human brutality, which can overcome even the harshest aspects of nature, be it the instinct of a wild animal or a deadly epidemic.
