In the foreseeable future, Israel still illegally occupies Palestine. An innocent Palestinian boy is kept in Israeli detention instead of celebrating his 16th birthday at home with his mother. They manage to outsmart the system to share a short moment with each other and symbolically blow out his birthday candles. Instead of a birthday gift, he asks her for something that would allow him complete autonomy over his next steps and, what he sees as, “freedom from the occupation”.
